Selecting the Right Components:
When planning your venting installation, refer to our Typical Venting Installation drawings to help you choose the appropriate component parts. For additional installation examples, please check our download links below.
Planning Your Installation:
For vertical gas stove installations, measure the distance from the stove outlet to the ceiling. This measurement will determine the length of black pipe needed. You can then select either a ceiling support/wall thimble cover or a cathedral ceiling support box accordingly.
To calculate the length of galvanized pipe required, measure the ceiling's thickness and the vertical rise within an attic or on a second story. Remember to include firestops at each floor level beyond the first-floor ceiling support/wall thimble cover or cathedral ceiling support box. If you need to navigate obstacles, utilize a pair of 45° elbows. Ensure proper support by using elbow straps with offsets and wall straps for extended vertical runs. Don't forget the attic Insulation Shield, which is essential in the attic.
Measure the roof pitch and select the appropriate flashing and storm collar. Determine the minimum height required above the roof.
For horizontal installations, consult the appliance manufacturer's instructions to find out the minimum rise and maximum horizontal run requirements. If height restrictions prevent adequate rise above the appliance, consider using a snorkel termination. Additionally, select the suitable Horizontal Termination Cap (as per appliance manufacturer installation instructions) and, to protect vinyl siding, opt for a vinyl siding standoff. Always check the appliance manufacturer’s instructions for wall thimble and firestop requirements.
Design Recommendations:
The following design recommendations serve as general guidelines to aid in the design and selection of venting components for your installation. Prior to installing your chimney system, always adhere to DuraVent Installation instructions included with the cap or support box. You can access installation instructions online at www.duravent.com under Catalogs and Instructions. It's crucial to check the manufacturer’s rating plate and instruction manual to verify that the DuraVent direct vent system is approved for use with the specific brand-name appliance you have selected.
- Ensure that the inner and outer pipe diameters match the outlet size of the appliance.
- Refer to the appliance manufacturer’s installation instructions to confirm which vent configurations are permissible (e.g., horizontal, vertical, chimney reline, etc.). Additionally, check for any venting restrictions such as maximum horizontal run, minimum and maximum vertical rise, maximum offset, etc.
- Prioritize fire safety by maintaining the minimum clearances (air-space) specified in the appliance manufacturer’s installation instructions between the vent pipe and nearby combustible materials. Use proper support and bracing as necessary. Always follow local building codes and have your venting system inspected regularly to ensure safety and compliance

Damages:
It is very important that you inspect the packaging of your items when they arrive and check if you received all boxes listed on the delivery receipt. If you notice any damage or shortage of packages, you must make note of it on the bill of lading, take pictures, and refuse delivery. Your note should say "refused due to damage". You must also take photos of all sides of the box and send them to us within 2 days. If there are no damages visible before opening the box, you must note "subject to further inspection may contain concealed damage". If you notice any damage after receiving the delivery, do not throw the box away, and contact us with the photos. After we receive information from you about the refused delivery or concealed damage, we immediately initiate a claim with the shipping company or with the manufacturer. After the claim is fully processed, we ship all replacements at absolutely no cost to you.
Cancellations & Refunds:
We offer free order cancellations before the shipping label or Bill of Lading is generated, or prior to the commencement of production for custom orders. Please note that custom-made items are not eligible for refunds once production has begun. To be eligible for a return, the item must be unused and in its original condition, with all packaging intact and in perfect condition. Orders delivered outside of the United States are not eligible for refunds. If your order arrives damaged, please refer to the "Damages" section. Our refund policy extends for 30 days. If 30 days have elapsed since your purchase, regrettably, we cannot process a refund. Prior to returning an item, please contact us to discuss shipping details. All refunds will be credited to the original credit card or PayPal account used for the purchase, within two days of receiving the returned items at our warehouse.
